Podere Pradarolo - Velius Rosé Metodo Classico
A 100% Barbera Rosé Spumante from podere Pradarolo, the estate of Alberto and Claudia Carretti in Emilia Romagna. The Carrettis make wine the old-fashioned way, with long macerations and aging periods.
The 2015 Velius Rosé is grown in the Parma hills on clay-like soil with a low limestone content. The wine is made with 2015 Barbera plus the must of the 2016 vintage for the 2nd fermentation, after which it spends 18 months on the yeasts. It is degorged without any other additivies. A clear peach color, this Rosé is fresh and light, with the residual sugar balancing the acidity beautifully. These rosé bubbles are bright and drinkable, but also long and complex.
