Akilia - Chano Villar

We were lucky to get our hands on a few of these precious bottles of the unique Chano Villar, a study of how Mencía can age!

70-year old Mencía bush vines from a small parcel of the same name (2 HA), in an east-facing slope on sandy loam and slate soils. Grapes from this parcel ferment and age separately in a concrete tank. The bottle aging of this wine has gifted it a very special smokey character, toasty, the oak is perfectly integrated with notes of tobacco leaves. Bitter notes, eucalyptus, herbs and very fine-grained tannins. Not for the faint of heart.
