A 100% Barbera wine from podere Pradarolo, the estate of Alberto and Claudia Carretti in Emilia Romagna. The Carrettis make wine the old fashioned way, with long macerations and aging periods. Velius is made from mostly Barbera grapes grown in the Parma hills on clay-like soil with a low limestone content, and is bottled after a 90 day maceration and spending 18 months in huge oak barrels without filtration or any additives. The wine is ruby red with a touch of violet, with elegant aromas of dark fruit and is well balanced with elegant and soft tannins. Decant and serve at cellar temperature, 14% Alcohol.
