Le Raisin et L'Ange

Le Raisin et L’Ange is a family trading and winemaking company in south Ardèche in France. It is the story of father and son, both committed to the same philosophy:

  - Promoting organic grapes in the south of Ardèche.

  - Purchasing certified organic grapes from local producers.

  - Practicing winemaking without adding yeasts, SO2, no filtering, etc.

Gilles Azzoni settled in this farm in 1983, a fermage in French, which means an agricultural rental made up of a farm and 6HA of vineyards. Gilles and his son buy organic grapes from young growers in the region (including the Ozil brothers) who tend their vines with the utmost care. They make their reds in 4 large fermenters with carbonic maceration that last between 8 to 15 days.  Even the names for the wines are chosen carefully. Brân for instance, meant raven for the Celts, who saw these animals as positive omens, unlike nowadays;  ravens are perceived negatively. The story around this name embodies the contradiction and struggle between diverging world views.
