Domaine Les Terres Blanches
The Domaine Les Terres Blanches, of the AOC Baux de Provence, is situated at the bottom of the Alpilles in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Conditions are ideal for biodynamic agriculture. Noël Michelin bought the estate and 25 HA of vineyards in 1968 and immediately began farming with no chemical products.
The region has a remarkable historical legacy, dating back to Greek and Roman times, with the ancient Via Aurelia running alongside the estate. In the vineyards, everything conspires to help the grapes ripen perfectly: the warm light of the dry summers, the purity of the air stirred by the impetuous Mistral wind and the limestone soil under a blanket of stony clay.
After that Noël Michelin worked tirelessly to grow up to 98 acres and built a cellar in 1973. Largely recognized by his peers, he is elected president of the Baux de Provence winegrowers syndicate and creates the wine that will be the reference for the creation of the AOP Baux de Provence: Aurélia.
In 2012, the estate is purchased by Christian Latouche who already owned Domaine de la Vallongue on the opposite side of the Alpilles. Nowadays, Terres Blanches is one of the most renowned domaines of Provence, producing pure and elegant wines.
